The short answer

To move from Goodreads to Atrium, export your library on the Goodreads website and upload the .csv on Atrium's Import page. Your shelves become reading statuses, your star ratings and read dates come across, and books with an ISBN match exactly. Kindle and audiobook editions are found by title, author and year. Atrium is a free Goodreads alternative.

Questions about moving from Goodreads

Is Atrium a good Goodreads alternative?

Yes, if you want your books next to everything else you track. Your shelves, star ratings and read dates come across, manga and comics sit on the same shelves as your novels, and your films, shows and games share the same library.

Is moving from Goodreads to Atrium free?

Yes. Importing, tracking and exporting are free in Atrium, with no credit card. You can export a full backup of your library whenever you like.

Can I export my Goodreads library from the app?

No. Goodreads only offers the export on its website: open My Books, then Import and export, and choose Export Library. The download link can take a few minutes to appear.

What happens to my custom Goodreads shelves?

Atrium recognises common shelf names: DNF or abandoned shelves import as Dropped, on hold as Reading, and TBR or wishlist shelves as Plan to Read. A book on any other custom shelf imports as Completed if it has a read date, and as Plan to Read if it doesn't.

Will my Kindle and audiobook editions match?

Yes, in most cases. Goodreads exports them without an ISBN, so Atrium finds them by title, author and year instead.

Do I keep my Goodreads read dates?

Yes. A book you've read keeps the date you finished it and the date you added it.

Atrium also imports from Netflix, IMDb, Trakt, Simkl, Steam, Grouvee, HowLongToBeat, StoryGraph, Hardcover, AniList, MyAnimeList and any CSV file.

Your books are waiting.

Importing is free, and so is leaving. Export a full backup of your library whenever you like, at no cost.
